1978 vanguard banshee

my speedo just quit the last time i was out ,so i traced the wire (tube) all the way to the rear of the boat and it hooks up to a plastic piece that sits in the water ?any ideas on how to repair or should i just replace it?

Ayuh,.....

If the Pitot kicked up,.... Move it back down,..... It'll probably Work again....

should it be pointing straight out or down and is it called pitot?

Down, and it's called a pitot tube (pronounced pee-toe).

so its is to be pointed down, and i wounder if i take mechanic's wire and put it all the way in (that should remove any debris) now my tach is not working too,gees i have all the good luck eh
