Hi all,
I'm in the process of rebuilding/resealing an OMC Stringer outdrive. I bought a 1978 Reinell that came with a 120hp OMC Stringer (Hydromechanical shift) engine and outdrive. It also came with a spare upper and lower unit (also hydromechanical shift).
I have disassembled the spare leg and repainted it with the imron system. Before I go about reassembling this unit, I would like to double check that I've got the correct gear ratio for the 140hp 3.0L 4Cyl engine that I am installing in the boat. I understand the stringer outdrives were offered on the I6 and V8 engines as well, and I just want to make sure that this upper and lower unit were from a 4cyl and not the 6 or 8 because I believe the gear ratios would be different.
Anyone know a quick way I can check?
Thanks in advance,
-Ryan
