I assume you know that you do not have the electric shift? There would be no thru the prop exhaust if you did. Otherwise it is between a hydro-mechanical and a full mechanical.

Two quick identifiers between those two. Look on the front of your shift converter box on the inside of the transom. Full mechanicals will have the shift interupt switches on the outside of it. Also, the full mechanical has an anode, embedded in the lower, that the hydro does not.
