If it is in fact the correct unit you will also have the transom bracket bolts that go through the transom to deal with. If your lucky they we have a bit of wiggle room but if not you will have to deal with that as well. With the tilt tube nuts lose and the transom bracket bolts removed you may gain enough space to get it in there. If it’s the correct unit.
It looks like the correct unit… in terms of the 3 bolt holes and the way the 2 arms line up and land on the outboard shaft. I’m building a motor stand so I’ll get that done and pull it and try to install from the top

Not sure what you mean by a "motor stand" but it just needs to hang in the air right behind the boat from a picking eye on the fly wheel or something else just not the clamps.

At that point you can attack it. Not always an easy job.

You might want to service that trim unit though. Have you bench tested it to see if it runs?

So essentially an engine hoist to hold it. I am going to rebuild it before install. Repaint and test hydraulics. Installing a new motor in it. Can I bleed the hydraulics and put in new fluid?

Not sure if you have to remove motor from the boat.----Do you have the " thrust pads " that trim rams push on ?

Thrust pads.

Your T & T has three cylinders or rams. Big one in the middle tilts the outboard. The two twins are the trim rams. They are used to change the attitude of the boat. (Nose up or nose down). The engine has two little (nickel size) stainless pads that the two rams push on when the motor is tilted down to it's running position.

Look underneath....there either there or not. Someone could have painted them.

Copy. I see two small circles but no pads

You need to find the pads.-----That is why I mentioned it.----When you buy used from some suppliers you do not always get what you need.----Is this a 2 wire or a 3 wire motor ?----Do you have the proper wiring relays if 2 wire?----A solenoid if 3 wire ??

When you say I need to “find the pads” do you mean that my motor photos do not show pads? Like they are missing and I need to find replacements? Or my photos don’t show the ads? I’m confused a bit. And I don’t know about the wiring, I will have to do more digging and ask you guys another 45 questions and post 10 pictures to figure it out. I have never worked on a boat before so all the terminology is new to me. I have operated boats but the engines have been inboard and these are not my forte. I’m also not a mechanic so I’m just messing with this boat in my backyard and will either fix it myself or find someone who can. So please excuse me if my questions seem simple or stupid or they bother you. I do not really care and I am just trying to get this operating correctly without breaking the bank.

Explain to me:
how I’d find the wire number- 2 or 3
And
Do I HAVE spaces for my pads and they are MISSING? Or do I need to FIND the thrust pads and post pictures of them?
