hey yall im new to this forum and have a couple of questions. im restoring the floor in my tahiti, stringers and core seem to be sturdy and good but i am pondering on the floor wood? or some time of composite? i plan on using epoxy resin from what i have read it holds up better. i also want to know if i should use mat or fiberglass cloth. also if wood would be better what kind? i would like to have the lightest but a strong floor as well because i dont plan on doing this again haha. thanks

Re: 1977 tahiti floor help!!!!!

hi.....welcome to iboats !

glad to have you aboard !

ill let you in on a little secret.....if you use extreior grade plywood for the floor, and follow instructions to glass it with the much cheaper poly resin, with minimal up keep, your new floor will last 25 years or longer....

save your money.....composites cost far more, as does epoxy. and your new deck will outlast your desire to own the boat !

here is a link to re decking and foaming a boat. after the stringers are in.

one thing.......after the old deck is up......i would do several core samples of the stringers and transom just to make sure they are ok.

cheers
