Classiccat, I also bid on the Holiday but it went too high. It is a sharp looking boat with a fast engine.

If my lounge seats arrive tomorrow. I will be installing them on Friday. Is there any rule of thumb on how far from the gunnel / hull the seats are placed? The boat did not have seats when I purchased it.
Thanks

I usually put the helm seat in and position it so it is comfortable behind the wheel then put the port side in the same position, relative to the gunwale and consul.

I have carpet and don't attach my sleeper seats.
They never move unless I pick them up slightly.
That way I can put them where I want and also get them out to the way if I'm working on something.

I finally was able to work on the boat today. Attached are images of the knee brace before and after. The PO let the transom rot out and broke off the top of the brace. I used aluminum angle iron with spacers behind it to make it flush. Not the prettiest but it should do the job. knee brace before repair.jpg knee brace fix.jpg

Whew I had to look at the pic to make sure it wasn't really "angle iron" you used, it looks like angle aluminum in the pic though. :encouragement:

Watermann, It is aluminum. I am just used to calling it angle iron. I had to put a clamp on it to pull it together because the through transom bolts were off center.

I used 5/8 inch marine plywood with two coats of epoxy for my new deck. As you can imagine, my councils don't exactly line up. I search other rehabs and some say to put spacers under the windshields. I plan to adjust the turnbuckles along the walkthrough to see if that will help. The turnbuckles are rusted so I will have to replace them before I can adjust them. I don't have the councils screwed in yet so I can adjust.

My Wise back to back lounge charcoal / grey seats came in yesterday. The boat is starting to look like a boat.

Can you take a picture of the side of the windshield where it bolts to gunwale, on mine I raised the outside of the windshield up by drilling new holes to mount it.

I just checked back a couple pages and you only have the small side windows with the support bar, so you can easily raise the consuls up to the top of the gunwale this will also let the water that runs of the windshield run onto the gunwale instead of down the edge of the dash and into the boat. One of Starcrafts bad designs.

I have the same windows as you IO and this is how I did mine.

Thanks for the information guys. Would raising the consoles require me to drill new holes in the plate attached to the side of the hull? Unfortunately it may be a few weeks until I work on the boat again.

The good news is that I'm taking my 14' Mirrocraft to the Mississippi for a four day fishing trip out of Savanna, IL.

I drilled new holes, the old ones are covered up so it doesn't really matter. If it matters you could always fill them with JB weld.

It has been a while since I have been able to get to the boat but I will be there this Tuesday for a work session. I plan on leveling the consoles, installing my side panels, and installing my two lounge seats. The large box store sent me three by mistake, looks like I may recoup some of my costs.

I was a little sloppy when drilling my drain holes and splintered the transom a bit. Any recommendations on how to repair the wood damage? See attached image and as always I appreciate the comments.

Happy Independence Day.

A good reason why to drill all the holes without the transom installed and take your time. If you have the pieces still that you pushed out and broke off glue them back in place to fill most of the damage and then use use some wood filler for the rest. You should pull the wood back out first though before repairing so you can sand it down smooth and reseal the wood and filler. I would think about painting too since the wood is exposed on you model.

I chipped mine drilling too. Just not to that extent. I smeared light coats of 5200 over the chipped pieces if i recall right. And painted back over them. I like Wmanns approach better though.

Will my patch hold long? Not sure. Time will tell.

No Title

Got a little bit of work done last week. I installed the side panels which are brand new with the exception of the trim pieces. It really makes the boat look good and adds a lot of stability to the deck. I have photos in previous posts how I made them. Next will be getting the motor on the boat and who knows, maybe even launch this year. The boat is still very dirty and please don't remind me the boat not being repainted. The Admiral reminds be about it every time I show her images.
