So here is the predicament.... (Thanks in advance for the help)
I am replacing the original 3 wire rectifier on my engine. I ordered a new one, part number CDI 193-3408, which is the correct number. It comes with 5 wires, one red, two yellow, one black and this mysterious gray wire. It says it is supposed to be attached to the tach wire. Not sure what or where this wire is located. I have contacted cdi with no response. Have shipped it back asking for the three wire setup and received this again. The system is 12 amp with a regulator on the back of the engine. To my understanding this rectifier is regulated as well to keep from overcharging.
Any idea on where to wire the gray wire into and if we do find the spot, is it safe for the original regulator to be wired into the system? Please help, would like to get the boat out and have been researching for a bit on where the gray wire will go.
