Welcome

You might read thru GT1000000's thread, lots of good stuff going on there!

I don't know anything about the Hydroglass line of boats. But if it checks out sturdy & runs, sounds like a good deal. Check some resto threads & you'll get a sense of how to probe & inspect the boat with a more critical eye & more in depth then your pre-purchase inspection was likely to have been for a $275 boat, motor & trailer.

Welcome aboard, brown 93...

Older fiberglass boats have a very real tendency to have a lot, if not most of the sub-structural wood turned into mulch...its called rot...

The only way for you to be sure is to take some core samples from as far down and back of the boat as you possibly can...drill some holes in the stringers, deck, and transom...you do not need to go all the way through, especially the transom...just deep enough to see the condition of the shavings...dark and wet...NO Good:(...light and dry, Excellent:)

Make sure you perform all the necessary maintenance on the engine before using or running it...post up or do a search in the Evinrude engine forum for information on what you should do...

Read through this link for info on how to best post up your pics...the other choice is to get a free photobucket account, load your pics there, then click the IMG tag and post them here...really the best way for us to see what you see...

The only hope you might have as far as getting info on your particular boat is to do a thorough search on the net for anything related to bass boats, until you come up with what you are looking for...unfortunately, a lot of these older companies are no longer in business and probably went out of business way before the internet became a popular place to get info/history on stuff...so, it is a shot in the dark to find the info you need...

Good Luck and Happy Boating!

Well I have found that the transom is trash and I still have to check on stringers but mostlikely gone to but since i only havae 275 in it not gonna trash it but try to keep cost down below 1000 cause there are not many of these left so i wanna keep it nice i am also a college student and gonna try to do it on my budget so any help on taking the cap off and what products would be great will post pics later!!

We will be happy to help you along this journey, young Jedi...the cost is very dependent on how well hooked up you can get with a local marine supplier...fiberglass and the associated resins, cloths etc...can get a bit pricey, but if you get a local hook-up, you can keep the costs down...either way you are probably gonna get close to a couple G's, but that is spread out over time...you don't have to spend it all at once...you will need some PPE and some basic tools to get started...

I strongly recommend that you do a LOT of reading throughout this forum, I know, I know...more Homework for an already loaded up college student, but believe me, it will help you out a lot along the way...again, you don't have to cram it all in at one time, just a bit at a time, and before you know it you'll be an expert like the best of "em...

The link in my signature is pretty close to what you are up against...I am in the process of doing a resto on my 17 foot tub...

Some other really informative links are these...

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=286013
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234392
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=510077

You don't really have to read them all the way through...just find the pictures of the procedures, and read through those areas to get some understanding of what to expect...

No worries, though...ask any and all questions you come up with and the guys here will get you some answers...

The best advice I can give you right now is to make sure you post lots of pics...not only are we suckers for pics, but they help us see what you see and that way we can give you the best possible advice...

Also, very important to the costs involved...is to make sure the engine is 100%...otherwise that can add a huge chunk of change to the endeavor...

Have a good one...

Ok looked over the boat tonight right before it got dark and started probing around on the wooden deck and have come up with a few questions.

1. ok the deck seems rotten but it is still sold i took a screw driver and tryied to see if any would chip or anything but nothing, it seems to be kinda warped and swollen but still strong and everything is fiber glassed in.

2, there also seems to be two decks on top of each other because i lifted one up and there was another piece of ply underneath.

3. what is the best way to remove leaves out of it cause it is full

If it's got 2 distinct layers of ply, not a single thicker sheet that has delaminated, that does not suggest good stringers will be found below decks.

If the plywood didn't get the backside glassed prior to being installed (probably wasn't originally even from the manufacturer) it wouldn't be surprising to see the 2nd layer warp & swell in the early stages of water intrusion. The fiberglass topside surface could still be solid.

Use a shop vac, a shovel, smaller garden tools or gloved hands. I found I made less of a mess w/ the debris when I hand scooped debris into a 5gal bucket with a dust pan, then dumping that into the heaviest contractor garbage bags I could find. Filling a large garbage can or garbage bag in the boat & trying to lift it out was more difficult, and the debris often tears the bag when it's handled to much after it starts to fill...

ok cap should be easy to take off then cause there isnt much other than the edge in ways of splash gaurd and live well and console it layed out with alot of extra space and the transom doesnt seem to have any flex but im probably gonna redo it all anyways shouldi just cut the fiber glass close to the edge then grind or what.

Welcome b93 ! Like GT said some good pics will go a long way in helping the guys here help you .. I would imagine the first step would be to pull the top cap take lots of measurements get the hull temp braced before you start tearing into things very much.. I would not cut the outside of the transom skin to replace the wood . Typically everyone cuts the inside skin out ..
Good luck !
