1977 6hp Johnson intermittently misses

Have an odd problem (from my perspective) with my 6hp trolling motor. Occasionally when trolling my 1977 6hp Johnson outboard will only run one one cylinder. After some time, the second cylinder may begin to fire.

I stopped by the marine shop and they recommend trying to replace the coil (I'm unsure which cylinder is missing) or the power pack. I have replaced both of the spark plugs, and that must not be the problem.

Anyone have any advice for troubleshooting?

check spark when the motor starts missing, then swap the position of the coils, if the problem follows the coil, replace the coil.
