1977 35hp Johnson wont turn off

just like it says this has electric start, but when I turn the key to the off position it wont kill the engine. Any ideas???

Find the black/yellow wire coming from the pack and ground it. If mtr shuts off you have a boat wiring prob. If not you have a mtr prob.

thanx boobie, i figured it out but I appreciate the help. yeah the kill wire to the cdi was corroded badly so I soldered in a new one... ran like a champ and shuts off like one too. thanks again
