1977 1500 Mercury Outboard Motor

I have just put a 1977 1500 Mercury outboard motor on a boat. It starts, idles, and runs at full throttle fine. The problem is it bogs through mid range but eventually will run to full throttle. Any clues??

It likely has a case of clogged carbs, especially the idle circuit. Sounds like it is time for a carb cleaning and rebuild.

Our '64 Mercury had the same issue when we bought it after sitting for some years.

The only thing I did was buying the Rejuvenite oil (just 1 bottle for 6 gallons) and the Quickleen from Mercury.

It worked wonders. Now we can do full throttle to idle and everything in between without any issues.
