Thank you mrdjflores. You are right... yours looks very kewl with that yellow paint. I have got to do away with the green stripe on mine but that'll be a while from now.

Wondering... Will raising my floor 4-5" affect the performance/safety of my boat. The seating will be way too low, at its previous height, for anyone to see. just looked weird.

On a smaller boat it certainly would. However on your 27' I'm thinking you're probably ok. Others will chime in I'm sure.

Well, here's my progress.

Got the transom area cleaned up and all the grinding on that end done, Got my 2 3/4" plywood cut from my pattern ready to PL together. All of my test fits went real good and I'm hoping for some fiberglassing products soon.

Can I use this cabosil with this poly resin? Its saying for epoxy resin, but not sure if that matters.

I'm having trouble finding 1/4" Chopped fibers. Any suggestions?

My old rotten stringers were 2x12 which i decided to do in AC plywood. Do i need to double those for strength? Or will a 3/4" stringer completely glassed in be sufficient on this 27 footer?

Hi Bill:

For the stringers all I can tell you is on my 28' they're 2.5" X 12". If you're talking about the main stringers that run fore-aft, I would try to replicate what was there originally. When you get pounding across wakes and choppy seas you don't want to have any doubt in your mind that the boat's structure is good.

Hello Bill..

Yes... you need to lam 2 layers of 3/4" ply for your stringers. .. then Glass them in ( Pics of your prepwork/grindout would be great ).

The 1 qt bucket of "Cabosil filler" made for epoxy only..never heard of that. Its just a powder that you mix with whatever resin system you want to use.

Your Lam resin is hard to tell from just your pics .. even on my 19". It looks like its Laminating resin which is what you want ( Low VOC resins I have found has longer cure times and is obviously less Gassy ).

Your getting more then 5 qts of resin right ? ..

Your cabosil will normally take a 1:1 ratio ( 1 qt of cab to 1 qt of resin ).

I never use the 1/4" chopped glass in a bucket ( even though I have it on hand ) .. I just scissor up some CSM into the mix.

Thanks again for your replies and hope to keep getting them. As for the pictures of the grining and prepwork, well its been HHHHOOOOOTTTT here in central MO so i've only got the transom area prepped. Hoping to knock out the rest over the next 2 days if i can catch a break in the heat. Prob going to have to rig up a tent to shade me.

I will definately double layer my stringers based on your input. Yes the resin says standard laminating resin and definately need more than 5 quarts. Going to start with 20 gallons but expect to need more than that.

I'll get updated pics as i get the rest of the grinding going.

OH..btw .. remember your going to "stagger" the wood to make 12'.

Basically you get 2 cuts of 8' .. offset them by 4' ( making 12' )..screw them together. Then you get 2 pieces of 4' and screw them to each end

Also remember that the ply should be pre-resin coated .. prepped then final bond resin coat before you lam them together ( yes dry fit/screw it all together..undo..then lam ).

I really need to find them pics to show you what I mean ...

No .. just a layer of resin and screws for your 12 foot stringers ..no need for glass lams on your stringers as long as they are prepped and bonded.

Your going to glass in the stringers..so make sure they are lammed/bonded together before they are Glassed to the hull/or transom ..

Here are some pictures of where i am. I still havent gotten my supplies so I'll keep prepping.

Got my transom ground down. And hit the areas where the stringers will be layed down.

Not much progress but some.

Haven't gotten all of my supplies yet but was dying to work on something so, I got one motor running. Pretty happy about that. Also, got my transom assemblies torn down and ready to clean up and paint, new gimbal bearing, steering pin, bellows and trim senders ordered. I know I'm quite a way from needing them, but, like I said I wanted to make some progress. Been reading alot and have an idea in my head to redo my guage cluster to improve the dash appearance??? Iboats puts too many ideas in this head of mine.

I am finding threads I had no idea existed this past week. You are well on your way to getting this thing done, and you look like you know what your doing. I noticed that you had an issue with your hull flexing. My trailer is a full bunk model, and my hull was very, very thick, and there was no flex at all.
