1976 70hp johnson has no spark

I hope there is someone out here that can help me. I have a 1976 70hp Johnson. It sunk last year, I had it running after that a few times. I was out on the lake and it died.

I put a new starter in today and I have no spark at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out what is going on. I'm new to this boating world and have little knowledge on these motors. Any help would be appreciated.

annie, it could be the power pack, stator any of the electronics. they don't do well after getting dunked. corroded connectors.

I would check all electrical connections with a ohm meter first, maybe corrosion.

All the connections seem to be ok . How do I check the power pack? Also how do I check the coils to see if they are ok.Is there anywhere I can find the wiring diagram for this motor on line?... Be patient with me I'm not really sure how to test these things.
