Well, I got the water pump on the engine back on and fired her up, still overheats like I figured it would. Now my next step is to test the manifolds and elbows.

Hmm. Scratch that. I'm out on the lake right now and she's been holding a steady temp for the past 20 mins.

I was thinking today about real cars, and how people have told me that they'll occasionally run it hard to clear up all the gunk in the exhaust. So I thought I would try it. I took it to the lake and started her up and ran WOT for 30 seconds and then put it in neutral and revved it up hard. And now she holds a temp.

Sometimes depending on the amount of scale released by leaving a motor dry
it may plug up the risers at the first start up .

I'm thinking this was the cause of my overheating?

Ayuh,.... That's entirely possible,..... It'll take a couple of new gaskets to find out,...
