hello looking at a project boat but the engine block has a rust hole in it. can i put a different motor in this or do i have to put the same model in. any help would be appreciated. it has a omc 165hp 250cu/in 6 cylinder gm motor
The block is the same as the same model of auto engine. Some internals are specific to marine use, such as the core plugs are brass, the camshaft is a little peppier head gasket is stainless, compression may be a little higher. but you you could find an auto or Pick Up would be a better donor and use the engine or block and swap over your internals and ALL the externals.
