I have a 1975 25hp 257HA. While figuring out why it’s not pumping water I decided to check the thermostat, turns out someone removed it who knows how long ago. It was made with a thermostat and i intend to replace it. I know the thermostat for this engine was discontinued long ago and I can’t find one online. It’s just a thermostat there has to be one out there that will fit right? I can make the gasket just need to know what thermostat will fit it. I attached images. Thank you

The reason you can't find one is they made a place for one but didn't use one???
Lots of smaller Chrysler/Forces didn't use a thermostat.

I was kinda thinking that because my 20hp Chrysler doesn’t have one or even have a place for one so it couldn’t be incredibly important on a 25 I would suppose. I just don’t want to damage anything. Someone has had the thermostat cover off before because it had non stainless steel grade 2 screws in it

I have two 25Hp right now and have had at least six or seven of them and none of them hav had a thermostat.
As jerry says, they made a place for one but did not use one.
