1975 25hp evinrude not getting a constant spark

my 25 hp evinrude is having trouble starting... the starter turns the fly wheel just fine and when it does spark its a hot blue spark but the spark is not consistent... i have tried both plugs and i get the same results, it only sparks every once in awhile... At first i had a bad kill switch that wouldnt allow the starter to spin the flywheel but i by passed it and found it was bad so i replaced it... but now i cant get it to spark every time... im new to boat engines and wanted some suggestion before i start taking things apart... any help will be appreciated

I would start by pulling the flywheel and checking the condition of the points, make sure they are clean and set properly. Check the coils for cracks and make sure the ground contacts are clean and tight. The kill switch will have no affect on the starter circut, it kills the ign system, double check your wires.
