I have a 75 15hp model 15R75C johnson. I have cleaned carb, put new NGK B7HS-10 plugs in, new ignition tune up kit, compression is 98 psi on both cyl. Need to know how to properly time the points.

Hi,, sorry if i am the bearer of bad news,, i have just checked my manual for the timing info and it appears you will need to source a special omc timing tool part number 386636 (if you google OMC 386636 you will find references) hope this helps,, incidently points gap is .020 inch,,good luck

If you are going to use NGK plugs instead of the recommended Champions, I wouldn't worry about timing.
Set the points properly at 0.020" and you'll be fine.

Point Setting Of Magneto Models)
(J. Reeves)

Set the points as follows. Have the flywheel key aligned with the fiber rubbing portion of the ignition points. Adjust the gap so that a .020 gauge will pass thru but a .022 will not. Should there be any question of the points being dirty (touching the contact with your finger would cause them to be dirty), clean them with a small brush and acetone or lacquer thinner.

NOTE: Should the operating cam have a small portion on it with the word "SET" imprinted, align this portion with the fiber rubbing portion instead of the flywheel key.
