amazing they can get that up past 25 mph, let alone get 18+ mpg while doing it! I manage 11 mpg towing a relatively aerodynamic 2000 lb boat behind my car, which ironically has an engine design not too far off that bug.
I had never seen one of these before and thought it was pretty cool. But if you think about it, there are many reasons it never caught on. I can see getting into trouble under alot of driving circumstances.
My dad use to pull a 16ft Larson it the early 60's with a bug. I belive it had a 60HP johnson so the boat had more HP than the car. I was too young to remember it but I have seen pictures and heard the stories!
