1974 Tilt/Trim Unit with Calco Pump

I have a 1974 50 hp Evinrude with PTT (an optional add-on in those days) The upper seals on the rams are seeping fluid. Is there a seal kit I can get for this unit ? And if there is, is it a job I could do myself ?

If its the old twin outrigger ram system its usually kit #0172575.....you need two of these.....#33 and #44 in the schematic.

A pin spanner is required to unscrew the ram end caps.....very similar to what you would use to change the disc on a powertool.....wouldnt be hard to make one with extra leverage if you dont already have one that fits.

Mark1961 - do you have any suggestion of where I can get these kits from (maybe online) ? I visited my local Evinrude dealer today - who has never really been that helpful !! - and they claim no such kit is available. Also enquired about a carb rebuild kit to which I got the same reply. Just hopeless. Thanks

Your best bet would be probably buying something on line. Or try another dlr if you can find one.

Rubbish! Some of those guys just cant be bothered.....oxygen thiefs! :facepalm:......the seal kits have actually been superseded to #0174520.....the carb kit will be #0384412.

Marineengine, boatsdotnet or crowleymarine should be able to help you out.....all US based suppliers.

save dlrs & go to your hydraulic seal supplier local , i got seals for a 1976 85hp similar set up , for next to nothing , cheers

That would probably work for the various orings......i doubt they could match the top scraper seal profile though.
