If you do not know how old the impeller is you need a new one.----And every 4 years after that.------Reason,----I doubt that motor has an overheat warning horn !

Nothing from Mercury, as for changing the Prop every 4 yrs... I have been using the same Prop since 2005 or 6.

That motor is pumping water out of all the right places. However, as Racerone says, the impeller should be changed.

Those motors do not have a thermostat, and rely on more water being pumped to cool the motor than is needed. There is not much extra capacity, and if the impeller is worn, she can easily overheat and damage the motor.

You will want to replace the impeller, wearplate and 2 gaskets as a minimum.

There are lots of youtube videos on this subject. A service manual is good idea as well.

An overheat horn might work. A water temp gauge doesn't work on that motor, because it runs dead cold at idle and warmer as you accelerate.

Not sure what effects your climate has on the impeller. We change 'em every few years here in NJ.

its about 105 outside atm yesterday it was 108 sometimes we get 115 for a few days so maybe the heat cooks them? I know I cant touch any metal part of the motor sitting in the sun I have to put a towel over it before i do anything just to touch parts lol

When the temp drops the Relative Humidity goes up, and that is very unbearable, as Sweat can no longer evaporate, and body temp goes up. I strive to keep the humidity below 30% inside the house.
