new to ths. any advice would be greatly appreciated! just picked it up from a nice old gentelman. runs good but...... when bulb pumped up to firm gas dumps from what i beleive to be the air intake port on carb. had another gentelman look at carb, he adjusted the little spring on a needle valve? that is affected by the float. no more gas dumping out of the air intake? i assume that is wat you call it. anyway. took it out on lake and viola!! cuts out and dies at top end. took off cover and when bulb pressed hard gas comes outa the same port. should gas come out of what i think is a air intake or what?? stumped in fresno.

Not sure if you got a reply to this but thought I would give you what I believe you should do. Simply remove the carb and take it to your nearest Marine repair guy. (If you have a digital camera, take photos of the carb in place so you know how it should go back on. It is something I do all the time now if I am not familiar with the item I am working with.) Something in the carb is wrong and I am guessing that it needs a complete rebuild. If you are not mechanically inclined tearing it apart on your own will only cause further problems. JMO.
