With the RED electrical plug disconnected, the ignition switch is out of the circuit.

Is there any way of telling which yellow wire goes where? Does it matter? Thanks again for your input. It has been most valuable!

The yellow wire locations are interchangeable.

Joe, i jumped the starter wire with the red plug disconnected, and there was no spark, so i am ordering a replacement powerpack from CDI electronics ($106).

Also, do you know of a way of testing the charge coils in the old stator? I hooked up my voltmeter to the brown & brown/yellow wires from the old stator, and it read 870-900 ohms. The new stator read 700 ohms.

I replaced the powerpack today, and the boat started up. It is running fairly nice now. I will be taking it out on sunday to determine whether or not it is overheating.
