Got them all, even under the anode...wont even budge a little side to side. Might try to tip over the motor, and spray some PB or wd40 into the shaft connector to the head, see if that will work.

Sure sounds like an interesting issue. I will be watching this post closely to see what you find out. Post your results with pictures if you can. :thumb:

Sounds good. Its not so much the money im concerned about, I just like the feeling of doing it all myself and know its done right, I could probably buy a mid 80's 50hp for 600$ that runs fine, but I like the challenge. Could the stuck driveshaft have anything do to with the block not turning? btw the LU in in neutral.

Take wooden construction shims and use them as wedges in between the lower and upper. If you hit the lower unit do not hit it with a metal hammer and try not to hit the cavitation plate. Do you have the shift linkage disconnected.

Normally the starter is removed to get at the pin for the shift rod.------The one screw that is shown removed does NOT release the shift rod.

Yes, im am sure I got all the bolts and disconnected the shiftin, I did have to take off the starter to get the bolt on the side of the shift off, like you said. Il try the shims today, im hoping that the driveshaft isnt to stuck, it looks to me it either could be that, or the lower and mid section are stuck together by corrostin.

Im starting to wonder is there another area id need to take off the shift link to get it off. I took off the shift link from the powerhead? is that enough?

Just one screw / pin holds the shift rod----It is the one removed after removing the starter.

I did not remove a pin, just 2 bolts, one on the front, and one on the side, were would the pin be? Hopefully this is the reason why she wont drop.

Is this the pin I need to remove?

???--No there is one pin / screw with a 1/4-20NC thread that goes through the hole on top of the shift rod.--How many screws / fasteners on on your work bench from the lower unit ?---There should be 7 of them.--Post a picture of the screws removed.

Is there still one bolt up in the cavity where the trim tab ( round thingy ) was bolted on ?

Post #32 says there should be 7 bolts for the lower unit and just one screw / pin for the shift rod.---Your picture shows but 6 screws , not seven.

I know, I just took it off after I took those pictures, I have to use a deep well socket to get that one out under the trim tab.

????----You show a group of 6 bolts.--------That lower unit is held on with one more bolt , 5/8" socket required to remove it.----The wee pile should have 7 bolts !
