1974 Evinrude 115 Won't Start

Just bought a 1974 Starflite and it won't start. Starter is good, plugs have spark. It will turn but won't catch. Do you have any suggestions?

Make sure you have enough compression and you are getting fuel to the cylinders.

Go to the Engine FAQs and do "Outboard won't start".

fully charged battery, has to turn motor +-300 rpms for it the start.

As JB said, the FAQ thread will help you.

Most of these problems are wiring/connection related. Make all battery, ground and starter/solenoid connection SHINE, then re tighten. Also check the wiring for buldges, nicks, abrasions, and crunching when flexed.

Is the battery FULLY charged, 12.65 volts? Load tested?

Once you get all your electrical cleaned and good connection if it still will not start try spraying some pre-mix fuel into the carbs then crank it again.

Use spray bottle and same oil to gas ratio as you mix for the fuel tank.
