Long time lurker and recently registered and coming out with my first post. We, meaning my husband, recently acquired a 1974 Larson Commander which was purchased by a long time friend of ours for $400. The lovely yellow paint the seller put on the Starboard side to make it pretty for the ad pictures paid off. It was really ugly on the port side. Finding he had no time to put into restoring the boat, after it sat at his home for over a year, a deal was made to do a motor swap with my husband and now I have this hole in the water sitting in my driveway. I actually don't mind it and I see the possibilites that are there and want to do this right. (even if it takes a lifetime).

I've been searching forums all over and read a bit of history on Larson, but I am having a hard time finding any information as to the interior details for this particular year and model. Larson, if I remember right went bankrupt in 1975 and the HIN for this boat says that it was build in December of 1974, and had acquired Crestliner in 1966 or there abouts. So I'm curious if this is a Larson or Larson/Crestliner and where else to search for more info before I dig into this massive undertaking. Any leads will be welcomed.

Re: 1974 Commander

Thanks for the welcome. As for the inside it's pretty much hammered. Weathered and definately was a botched job by the original owner who tried to pretty it up for sale. He had basically cut out the original berth area and threw in plywood (bare) and screwed it together to make a sleeping area. I know I'm going to end up taking it all out to check the stringers, deck has one soft spot back by the motor on the port side for sure. Will post more pics when I figure out how to make them quite a bit smaller.

Get a free photobucket account. Use the full size html img code to link to your pics...under settings on photobucket you can have uploaded pics resize to 640x480..then you can put them right in the thread..like so...

thanks Trooper that's what I did with the first post and thought it would upset the mods because they were so big. Back to work.
