Never really owned a boat before but this spring me and my brother started looking at some boats. To make a long story short we stumbled on this site and saw people restoring some boats. This idea struck my brother and I as great because we have always loved being hands on.

Our goal is to make this boat look good, fish from it and take friends out on it without them hiding their face.

From what I have been told this is a 1974 Chrysler Bowrider with a 3.0 Mercruiser and a Mercruiser(I think). From what I understand we are the third owner of this boat. Anyways here she is.

Quick question here the floors look bad but they are not flexing nor is the wood rotted. Should we replace the wood just because it looks bad?

Also someone installed the wrong fuel pump! I am so glad we found out before it caused a fire!

This week our plan is to fix the fuel pump and the out drive cables so it will go into reverse.

Thanks,
Doug

Re: 1974 Chrysler Bowrider

I have a 1974 chrysler center console,
expect the transom to be rotted, especially around the outdrive.
Stringers too.
They were never built to last 35 years and very few do.
If the engine runs, its worth fixing.
The foam under the deck will probably be soaked, its very typical.
Not a hard job to do if you like DIY projects.
