The 80 grit will leave sanding grooves in the surface that will allow the Filler to BITE into the surface when you fill in the imperfections and allow it to adhere better. Make sure to wipe everything down with acetone befor filling. Once all the imperfections have been filled in then do your final sanding with 180 grit. It will NOT leave sanding marks but WILL allow the Primer to adhere to the surface.

Getting ready to prime the Bumble Bee hull. I am almost through sanding and prepping, just a little bit more to go. I have a question about the rustoleum primer.
Do I use the same formula as the paint?

2 cups Primer
1/4 cup of ACETONE or if the temp is over 80 degrees use Mineral Spirits
1 oz of Hardener (1/8 cup/2Tablespoons)(Sold @ Tractor Supply Stores)

and is harbor blue a topside paint or is it another kind of rustoleum?

Nope NO hardener in the primer. Harbour Blue is not a Rustoleum Product to the best of my Knowledge. You can tint Rustoleum by using Artists Acrylic paint and thinning it with acetone and then adding it to Rustoleum white to get pretty much any shade of blue you want. That's how I got my Baby Blue for my boat. Worked Great. Or you can get the Royal Blue rustoleum and Add the While Rustoleum to it to get a Lighter shade of Blue. Lot's of ways to get what you want.

I have another question about the rustoleum primer. Do I roll and roll the primer like I would the paint? Also is the topside paint pretty durable?
