I had someone change carbs on this 50 hp. It runs, starts great, it idles rough slow. I had to turn up the idle so it woud not die so much. However when you slow down to neutral it dies and sometimes floods. This makes it aggrovating when trying to load the boat. i go slow to neutral and it dies. I think its getting to much gas. How do i give it more air or less gas. The man who adjusted the carb said he likes to run the boats really rich. Maybe he set mine too rich.

Thanks for the reply. There is no gas coming out of the carborator. It looks fine. I even ran the engine with the cover off, and with the motor out of the water it idles a little better. But after it warms up it kind of starts to idle rough I'm new at this boat forum, so how do i read the top secret file. thanks again.

1st post in this forum, i hope you had a water source to the lower unit, or you just burnt up your impeller.

I used the water sucktion muffs while running the engine. The boat was just not in a lake. its hard to tell much about an engine unless you put it under a load in the lake. sorry about the misunderstanding. i still don't know how to adjust the carb properly. is there a low speed, and high speed screw for adjustment.

Thanks for the info. I adjusted the carbs and they sound much better while idling. I'm going to take it for a test run and see how it does.
