Thanks so much for the compliments! The boat did not have a forward hatch, though the middle section of the windshield opens to allow access to the bow...

Looking forward to finishing this up and splashing her in the Spring...

Happy Holidays!

Re: 1974 21' Starcraft Holiday (first time boat owner)

Hey Y'all... Need some advice. I am thinking of buying a new motor but the prices are a little steep! I have the original 135hp, but not sure how she runs. I am told the compression is excellent, but what I don't want to do is drill holes in my new transom, only to replace the motor later on... I have also been told that the rated HP on the older engines are different from how they are rated currently - meaning they are measured at the prop instead of in the motor??? Anyway, what os the minimum new engine you would put on the boat, as the price differences are vast from a 70HP to let's say a 115hp... Until then, I have a great looking, restored boat sitting in a shed :-(

Thanks for any and all advice... Last, if I do go with a new motor, where are the best prices and can I find a "last years model" or "overstocked"?
