I agree with Sig a real good decarb with Seafoam then do your compression test, that stuff works wonders.

been really busy at work , so not much progress. did get a couple of hours last night , so experimented with stripping bottom paint. spent 10 minutes brushing on the klean strip adhesive remover, and let sit for about 1/2 hour while getting power washer set up. it was 50 degrees and only sat 1/2 hour with no plastic covering. came off real nicely and my thoughts are with warmer weather and plastic it will work even better. this bottom blue paint is some bad stuff, and sanding was getting me nowhere. so am pretty happy with how the stripping is working. hoping to sand the sides as they are in much better shape paint wise. i rinsed what is done with h20 for now , wondering if that is sufficient for now as going to be awhile before i am ready to paint, and will do a good vinagr wash before that. thanks for stopping by and let me know if i am missing or doing somethin wrong. would post some pics, but it tells me my file exceeds the limit of 20000. any help in how i change my photo size or what needs to be done?

What the heck, only 1 measly coat of paint? Glad you're not fighting too hard to get down to some clean AL.

I really hate stripping paint...

No reason to use vinegar & water 50/50 BEFORE you scuff it. Clean it before scuffing, sure, but acid wash is after scuffing

The 57 Variety people make a stronger vinegar for cleaning.

I used klean strip and a power washer. I ended up not using the power washer and used a plastic scraper insted. Worked 10* better! Power washed after and it turned out great!

been really busy at work at not much tin time , but did manage to get er stripped for the most part. gotta do some touch up with a sander and got some of that filmy blue smeg to remove on the bottom. then on to a good wash with hot soapy water. then an acid wash with 50/50 vinager and water followed by a good hot water nuetralizer wash and let dry before spray bombing the self etch rusto. any of you feel i should scuff it all with 220 sand paper before an acid wash to help the self etch adhere or not a neccessary step? thanks for stoppin by, and any advice on my plan moving forward is always appreciated.
