Yeah I tried rolling like guys said and I suck at it. As soon as I got my hands on the HVLP I knew it was a match made in heaven. I feel your anxious excitement over the first run with it and look forward to getting my gun out again. Once you get the rhythm going and see the results you'll wonder why you never got one sooner.

I shoot the base coat of SE primer on bare aluminum and then a regular primer over it. If it looks rough sand lightly between coats and use a tack cloth to wipe of the dust.

Yup, a quart will be Plenty, by the time you thin it etc. I'd only mix up 2 cups at a time using 1 oz of hardener per 2 cups of paint and about 1/3 cup of 50/50 thinner. It should shoot like a dream with the HF HVLP Gun!!!! 40 PSI. Make sure an put a Filter at the Compressor AND at the gun. Don't want any water in the line!!!! These HF cheap ones work good. Throw em away after a couple of uses.

OOO I missed this when painting my boat this weekend. WOG, wanna add that to your paint post/link? Might be a good idea.

Goodluck CC, I shot my boat with WOG's recipe and it looks good. I wouldn't worry to much about your trailer, Im sure you will knock it out of the park.

hea fellas, just a quick update note. got a buddy at work working on wire wheeling and sandblasting trailer for me. only got a small blaster and compressor so slow going he tells me, so doing a fair amount with wire wheel. just got back from arizona, to say goodbye to my mother. wonderful lady who has finally succumbed to a 15 year battle with that dreaded cancer. real strong gal and i am so proud of her.
she deserved better, and is now pain free, and that makes me feel better. i would guess that women did not spend 1 second at the pearly gates before being invited in.
gonna get back at the trailer here by middle of feb, after tying up family things, and will get some picks posted of progress, and results, when it happens. you all have been a real inspiration, and wealth of knowledge in my first big project.
it may take a couple of years but i will get it done, and it is so nice to get ideas and input from those that have been there before me as each aspect comes along. this forumn is why i started, and to see all the excellent work is truelly inspiring. thanks all

Great to have you back. Let me add my condolences to all the others. You only have one mother and you will never get over losing her. I know lost mine 34 years ago. I've been following your thread since I am also working on the same year and model. You are making good progress. Keep it up.
