I'm back just and got the boat squeezed into my garage so I can start the tear down. I tried again to add pictures but the site is still not allowing. I will keep checking and add pictures when the site allows. Thanks for all the help so far I'm sure I will be asking more questions as I get going.

That boat's in great shape, even the cushions and seats!

It looks like there's some cracking on the knee brace wings that bolt to the transom. Some weld that and others, including me, just cut off the originals and bolt or rivet on some new ones out of angle aluminum. Wow time goes by and life gets in the way but my Starcraft project has finally started. My youngest son and I started getting out the rotted floor today. Nothing left for a template its completely rotted. We got the old sleeper seats out and have started removing the carpet, floor and old foam. Mice nests and some kind of tar paper type layer over the rotted floor but its looking good underneath. It a freshwater boat so hoping everything looks good. Ive posted some pictures and will be updating my progress as we go.

Next steps will be pulling out the consoles to get the rest of the floor out. Lots of work to do but we are really happy to have our project off the launch pad.

I have built a stand and am planning on taking the motor off. Should I do that before I continue removing the consoles? I read somewhere that without the floor the structure will be affected and it made me second guess leaving the motor on and continue gutting the inside. Thanks

My first step on a gut job is usually always to remove the motor, but I guess it's just personal preference. If you have the stand, I'd just go ahead and pull it. Don't really think it's going to impact anything much if the boat is just sitting there. I'd be more concerned if I were planning on towing it or trying to run it in the water. The decking and consoles do tie into the structural integrity, but for what you're doing, it should really be on non issue.

I came across these cuts in the ribs after removing the floor. It looks like someone has cut the rib ends. Originally I thought it might have been a previous owner cutting out an old floor but they are cut both ways like a cross so I dont get what they were doing. I havent opened up the other side yet but have I run into a problem here?

That's a first for me, and rather strange. Not even sure what they were trying to accomplish, but it does look intentional. The good news is, you have the factory bracing. Not sure if those cuts will be of any concern or not. Based on how the ribs are secured/riveted all across the bottom of the hull, I don't really see how it would compromise anything, especially if it's just those two.
