I just read your entire thread and now the suspense is killing me. I have the same boat but 74 and your work is an inspiration. I'll probably borrow some of your ideas. The snow is melting fast so I should be able to get pull it out of the woods soon. Hopefully this month.
Very nice work!!!

Thanks Mike.... Like most of of the 'Crafters around here... I'm working on a shoestring budget...all my ideas are born of necessity and lack of $$$... I think mine is a '74 as well.... got it wrong when I started this thread.. Lots of guys on here have been inspirational to me and have provided direction both directly and indirectly.... jasoutside, Huron Angler, Alpheus, sprintst to name just a few and then on the tech side... Jim Reeves, JB and Silvertip.... It's been quite a journey over the last 4+ years.. lol

I am definitely humbled... I bought some new cables.. short ones.. and jumped from battery to solenoid... it turns over fine!! Now I just need to relocate my batteries and selector switch under the splashwell. Thanks for all the help guys!! I learned a lot about DC wiring for sure.. it is much more sensitive than I thought..

Going to hit the lake in the morning!! I will post video... if it happens...

Happy Easter everyone!!

Holy MOLY!!! Over a year has passed without a peep out of me! Well, I still have the old Chieftain, I did get her going and been out catching fish ever since!!! lol! I wish that were true.. I have not done much work on her lately other rewired the on board battery charger and trolling motor cables.. 2011 was a great year!! That marriage didn't work out well... my 2 old black labs died ( they were 14 and 15, lived good, long lives) so now I'm back to my boat and new chocolate lab Bella...

Michael P has INSPIRED me to get back to work on the ol' girl...if she looks half as good as his boat does, I will be proud!!

Welcome back to your resto thread Tom. Sorry to hear about you losing your dogs, but Bella looks like she lives up to her name! :)

It's all good, T... She and i have been friends for over 30 years and we will continue that... LOL... Bella is the calmest lab I've ever had...and I've had 6... She loves the boat and retrieves like, well a lab!! I rushed many things on my boat just to get it on the water...now im going to fix a few things and rework some others...
