Wow your scarf joint is awesome. Rock solid I'm sure.

What's the deal with the two fills on that gas tank? Odd. I can't imagine they intended you to use both so there has to be a way to block one off. Weird.

I need assistance... i have 1.5oz csm and 18 oz woven roven... now that i have priced it again it would have been cheaper to get 1708.. but in the mean time i must use up 15 yards of csm and 10 yards of woven roven... i need to get a idea on tabbing and covering my stringers... how much tab 3 6 or 9 inches how many layers and such... i am gonna try and cover them all the way down to the hull in one piece if not i will tab them cover them to the top and cap them in 2 layers.. 1 layer half way down the stringer and the second down to the bottom if possible.. something like this...

anyone help out with a decent layup schedule, and how much of an over lap is good from transom and stringers?

Off topic but after i get a good head way on this project i have the next one.. possible 2.. one for sure is just to reinstall the engines after rebuilding them in to a 33 ft cat..The interior also has to be done but we have people to do that..

Well after alot of research, i have found out that the center area in this pic is where ther factory had a 18 gallon fuel tank installed.. it was 6 inches away from the transom. The fill was in the splash shield, well the hole was there no fill plate.

I plan to install the 32 gallon i bought, i will move it forward as far as i can to get some balance.
I found a used boat online that had the fill in the splash sheild and it made sense, my fill an the vent were at the rear of the boat. so i can now figure out stringer height. I have read in many online pages not to use foam for tanks. My tank does not have the tabs for the moeller stainless tabs, will a strap kit be enough?

yup it should be good enough josh....just make sure you KNOW it will not move.

and on th stringer lay up....that looks good....

a 3-4 inch tab is fine with 1708

i hoad to clean out my pm's josh.

it may have been deleted by mistake....can you post pics?

strake damage is usually just a gell coat repair.....but for good thru whacks...you will need to glass inside out with 3 layers of 1708 inside....and a few 1.5 csm out...then gell and fair.
post pics......we can go from there bud

cheers
oops

ok here is a good pic you can see the strake damage, the green stuff looks like what was used for repair... its not straight or even, plus its thin and has random chunks missing..

i know ill have to flip it and sand to see the extent of the damage..the was repair with a layer of cloth.. i plan to grind it out and use some 1708and do a layer or 2.. maybe grind it out sand the bottom and get the 1708 to reform the strake from the inside then use epoxy filler to finish it? I plan to use epoxy prime coat for the primer, maybe perfection for paint on the bottom since it is a trailer boat

Update, got stringers out. The one came out with a kick and a tug, the other one split right in half.. also started to grind.

I started to grind out the previous repair above the strake, looks like it was run aground and messed it up.. so while im here gonna fix it right. it only had one layer of what looked to be a light weight cloth..

I need to know what kinda tab to do for the transom 4 inch 8 inch? is that the total width of the tab or just whats on the hull? I want to tab in the transom tonight or tommorrow, so i can pull the cap and get the stringers ready for bedding. Any help please..
