I am forum illiterate. Please forgive me. I purchased a 1973 Fabuglas boat for $500 last summer. There was some rot near the transom but other than that with a little tic we have used it many times with no problems. Recently, we have discovered that we are taking in water. It's a considerable amount but it hasn't come up over the floor. After close inspection, we have not found any obvious breaches. I am not totally convinced that the plugs are adequate. Hoping to find someone that is familiar with these boats and might be able to guide me or offer suggestions. Thanks!

Did you fix the rot near the transom? You will need to post more pictures of the plugs you mention and the transom, etc. A boat that is taking on water almost up to the floor isn't safe to have on the water in my opinion. No visible cracks on the outside of the hull? Does the floor feel soft?

If you have a rotten transom, the plug isn’t going to tighten up as well. But I’m going to venture a guess you have failing fiberglass in the transom and your sinking

I don't know what those nuts/bolts anchor to the boat but that definitely doesn't look good. From that pic, they've gone through the glass and are pulling through the wood core. That crack in the glass in the lower portion of your pic doesn't bode well either.

If that's your transom, you better have everyone onboard wearing life jackets at all times as its not a matter of IF the transom is going to let go, its a matter of WHEN it lets go....and what it takes with it.
