Well I've gotten under way on my project but it started life as a 21' holiday. I purchased the boat as a bare hull. Plans are CC with a large u derfloor tank, floor will be raised 2.5", center console, big outboard with a bracket. That's in a nutshell.

Welcome to the Starmada Rat

Ambitious plans you have for that bare hull, very doable but will take some serious work and money.

It is! After I started planning it all out I almost felt overwhelmed! But I got a grip and got moving. New transom has been cut and glued tightened, I had an old fuel tank we cut down to fit under the floor, started mocking up the console. Need to get welding on the floor supports, hoping to rivet them in this weekend.

Cut tank down? The filler fitting?

Welding deck supports? The thing with welding in a riveted boat the welds will most certainly crack. There's movement and flexing where welds can't move. My opinion not so much, we've seen it here frequently on everything from welded splashwells to rib repairs. I know it's more difficult to fab up brackets and rivet things together but it really is the best way.

You'll need some deck supports around and over that tank too, it's against the rules to have the tank be a support for the deck.

I will not be welding to the boat. The new floor supports will have plates welded to the ends, then riveted in the boat. It started as a rectangle tank, we cut it down to match the slope of the floor. There are supports for the tank area, there just not set in yet.

Well progress doesn't seem to seem like a lot, but all my floor braces are riveted in, console is built, need to glass the outside and paint, I'm reskinning the bow, and that's close to being done.

The design of the new raised deck supports looks like a great design and will act as hull stiffeners too bracing and isolating the spray rail chine. Very nice and well done too! :thumb:

Still trying to figure out you're going to overcome your fuel tank issues with it's height. So are the filler and vent going to come up through the deck under the console?

Very interesting - looks like you are doing some good work here - but I have the same question as waterman - are you going to run your fuel lines and fittings though the deck, or will you raise the deck further?

Fuel lines will be run under the floor, originally I was goin to run them to the console, but didn't want to deal with fuel fumes from the vent, and possible spilled fuel. The floor will be a little higher, as I have runners that go over the fuel tank, so there is plenty of room to run my lines. I haven't welded the filler and vent to the tank yet, as it will be all hard line to the side of the boat with a 90 running a short distance up the wall then to rubber lines to my fill.

You may want to add a short run of say a foot of the flexible hose on the connection to the tank filler and that hard line otherwise the flexing of the hull could over time break the circular weld around the filler on the tank as it would take the brunt of all the vibration and movement.
