1972 Evinrude 18hp [ive messed up]

hi,its all new to me but igot an engine inwhich as been standing for over a year,[hav,nt a clue about engines]a kind person from this site gave me the year of it,and fuel mix at 50-1..But i used unleaded petrol 95oc [english] with 2 stroke oil,tried to start and it coughed and ran for a short time not to good/but been thick should ive of used 4 stroke oil,as it has two spark plugs,its so new to me ,have i messed it up

you need to use tcw 3 rated 2 stroke oil, not the oil for weedeaters and garden equipment. you have not hurt anything. the carbs probably need to be cleaned and rebuilt. go the engine faq forum, and use awakening a sleeping outboard. it's also time to repalce the impellar (water pump)

Standard pump unleaded fuel is fine for that outboard. Mix 50:1 with TCW-3 2 stroke oil.

This motor is probably going to need a little TLC to get it running well, if you are going to do the work yourself you will need a manual, you can normally find one on ebay.
