That 72 100 was a solid engine when it first came out. It shares the small blore block with the 85 hp that year. Your 72 model is the last year for the electric shift lower units. As such, you will have to repair/reassemble the control box you have or find a similar used one somewhere in order to run the engine. Many of these electronic shifter parts are hard to come by. The factory parts list and exploded diagram for your engine and control box is found on the Bombardier parts catalog website: epc.brp.com. These boxes are getting rare-though they are occasionally sold used on the web. If you look, you will probably find a good used one. Some marine salvage yards may also have them available for sale. When working on this engine, an original factory manual is the most helpful: contact Ken Cook Co., in Milwaukee, or they are on the web.
