1972 40hp Johnson water pump issues

I have replaced the water pump in the motor and it pumped water, but now has stopped pumping water altogether any clues on what could be happening.

I would remove the thermostat and see if water comes out while it's running. If not, then you may need to drop the lower unit and see that your key has not come out somehow.
