1972 23? Penn Yan, do not know the model, can?t find the hull #. Have NEVER seen another pic of this boat. Was told it had a Chrysler 318. Previous owner found the boat without motor or traini. He put a stub out the back and a 175 hp Evinrude. He only ran it in the river and did well. Cruises at 20 mph and will run top end 30 mph. Original 36 gal fuel tanks still there but disconnected. Has a 20 gal poly tank now installed.
Problem, in the BIG water she wants to ?LIST?, REAL BAD, when pushed by current or wave. Some have said, put ballast to replace the weight of the old motor. Makes sense to me but, how much, what kind?
Is the tunnel catching the water and pushing it over? I thought about covering the tunnel with cut aluminum. Thoughts or ideas?
Fuel system. How do I clean out the original fuel tanks and make them useable again. All the fittings are there, just NO hoses. How do I hook up the system?
Thank you for any ideas and recommendations.

Wally,
As discussed on the Pennyan boards, that boat has some issues that need to be dealt with to make it safe. I would suggest taking it to a qualified boat builder to determine the impact of taking a tunnel drive boat designed for an inboard, and hanging a bracket off the back and putting an outboard on it. The transom is not designed for the bracket and we've gone over all issues with handling.

Good luck with it.
