1971 7.5HP Merc test coils

I have a 1971 7.5HP merc SN 3200173. As I see it, it doesnt have spark. Is there a easy way to test the coils? The top coil wire (off white, or tan, neg side) had bare spots on it, and it looks like it may have shorted out. I do have another 1970 7.5HP that I can take parts off of. The parts motor did run years ago, and has lower end issues. I just picked up the 1971 for $50.00, and the guy said he thought it was just the coil wire. I would like to test it before I start changing parts, and maybe screw up good parts. Thanks for any help.

Chances of 2 coils failing at the same time are slight, check the system as this test from CDI

Thanks Laddies, It looks like the top left few words are missing. Is there a web site where this info is at? Can you rescan it again?
