1970 winner closed bow project

Hi I just tore out the deck of my 19' 1970 winner and found a bunch of plastic flotation devices they are brick shaped about 12" long and 6" wide filled with nothing but air.... can anyone tell me anything about these ,Their use? ,Are they needed?

Hey Bobby,

From what i have read,i believe those air bottles are meant to prevent your boat from sinking.I have a 1986 Sea Quest 1850 center console and the rear live well has been filled with foam and sealed to aid the air bottles in preventing the boat from sinking.

Yes, they are floatation bottles. My Winner had them stuffed under the bow and in the gunwales.
