1970 power pack replacement

I have a 1970 115 johnson. I heard you could use a car cdi box and coil instead of the power pack. I was wondering if this is true and what would I need to change it over to this type of system?

not sure...but I know with the powerpack and right coil its as easy as plugging in your phone to the charger. Not sure its work the headache is it?
