Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and I am finding a lot of usefull information. I recently purchased a 1970 Galstron V176 trihull with a 1964 Johnson 75hp ob. I noticed that the floor in the back is soft and the plywood where the battery was kept is rotted. I know I will have to replace some if not all the floor and the corners of the boat. I will be looking to all the knowledgeable people here to help me rebuild this classic back to a great boat. First off should I start by trying to get the motor running or should I wait on it and make the boat sound. I only paid 250.00 for the whole thing (boat, trailer, and motor). I cannot wait until I can get it on the water and start fishing. Here are a couple of pics. I will post more photos as I go through my restoration.

Well howdy, I have the same boat just floated it today for first time in many years... I'm very familiar with hull and cap removal and have pix need to upload.
The engine will need to come off anyways, i would put it on a stand and work on hull/deck (it's a deck not floor) These seafaring types are anal about things. 3 sheets of ply, 3 stringers and you'll have a new floor in a couple months.. I love the looks of the boat and the hull is SOLID.. I'm about 3bills and crawled all in mine with zero wood while on trailer. good luck

Does the decking under the walk through need to be replaced when rotten? Or can the glass support itself. Im not looking forward to removing the cap.

i have a 76 glastron trihull and im in the process of removing the cap. its a pain in the *** so far, it seems ive removed everything attatching it but it still wont budge. Digging the boat, and i paid $250 for mine as well :D I have an I/0 mercruiser 120hp id rather have an outboard like yours more room that way.

If i were you anything that looks iffy... replace it just to be safe. no point heading out on the water and something seriouse happening.

If you want to take a look at my current project here are some pics
