Re: 1970 Correct Craft Mustang

Thanks Jones and Master,

Jones,

Im not going to paint, but re-gel. I know many will try and talk me out of it but I'm pretty set from the standpoint of originality, durability, and below waterline performance.

From what I have read if I were to use another product it would be acrylic-based polyurethane such as Awlcraft 2000. The advantage of these products over a polyester-based polyurethane is that they can be buffed and compounded and are easier to repair should they be damaged.

For color I will be using one of the colors originally offered on the boat. I am leaning toward a pale yellow hull, like a Fighting Lady Yellow and a white cap and cockpit. I am also leaning toward a color similar to seafoam green or possibly carolina blue. I don?t have any problem with the grey and I think that it looks good and was easy to keep clean, but I want to go with something more 60's era.

I'm following your build closely as I'm doing the same boat (mine's a '71)! Mine has the other type, squared off windshield rather than the curved glass and I plan to with mine to one like yours. I've found the windshield but it did not come with connectors to attach it to the boat. Could you tell me how yours in connected to the deck? Photos if you can/would provide.

Thanks!
