I have a 1970 115 hp evenrude that I can't get to fire. It ran a couple of years ago but lost spark. Ending up finding the pluse pack was bad, replaced the pulse pack have spark now but won,t even fart with either. Has compression of 75 to 100 on all cylinders which could be better but should still fire. Can anyone help?????

Squirt a little fuel/oil mix directly into the throat of the carbs and try it. The compression is a bit low but it should start at least. How are you checking the spark? An "air gap" tester is the most reliable way to check for spark. Is the battery fully charged and is the fuel fresh? (just thinking out load is all)

You need to check the spark with an air gap tester, the spark should jump at least 1/2" and be bright blue.

The old manuals stated 3/8" open air gap but in a pinch 1/4" might work. Grounding out spark plugs tell you nothing. And yes, when you were testing the spark directly out of the coil before it went to the dist cap, that was a 1/2" gap.
