She's a great fishing boat but she sure ain't pretty. I bought another boat so I need to sell this one. Going to give her a new paint job repaint the trailer reupholster the backseat and then maybe she'll look a lot prettier. Then once I know how to do all that, I'll fix up my other boat that I bought. I'll add some "before" pictures here later today and then as the project proceeds I will add some "after" pictures.

In the meantime, I need to figure out how to remove the boat from the trailer without killing myself. I read lots of forums, And I am planning on blocking the rear of the boat on the corners after jacking it up. Then I'll pull the trailer out gradually and lock up the front of the hull with one block in the middle. With the 150 hp outboard, the back of the boat is super-duper heavy so I figure as long as I block the back really well, the front of the boat should be pretty light. I plan on just using cinder blocks on the back and on the front with a couple of boards on top of them to avoid scratching the boat and to give it a better fit.

Anybody have any recommendations to make this job easier? Or any pictures of a really really really cheap boat cradle? I think the cinder blocks and wood pieces should do a pretty good job and be fairly stable. So I'm going to try to do this on the cheap. I'm going to paint over the trailer with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer. Then I'm going to put a coat of Valspar storm exterior acrylic paint on the trailer. I'm going to paint it dark navy blue and then paint the boat with a coat or two of white paint and a navy blue stripe around the upper part. Currently the trailer and boat are both cream colored and the trailer is quite rusty. The boat is pretty scratched up. Probably has only been painted once since the original purchase.

Anyway I'll be posting pictures of it and we'll see how it progresses. Any advice along the way would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is a good easy design and would work well for you. You might want to make it a bit taller to make it easier for you to get under for painting.
