ok its been a week, the gel is finally getting hard i would have put the motor back on but now its raining:facepalm: hope i can get to it after work this week anxious to get on the water now

Never done more than read about gel coat but thought it wouldn't self level like paint and be lumpy. At least not until sanded flat and then not glossy until sanded/polished/buffed through the higher grits to get the gloss finish.

All that said your definitely getting close.

i rewired the trailer with new lights, got the licence plate mounted, so now have to fix the hitch on the truck and rewire light hook up, so i can take it to work get a coworker to put a inspection sticker cant write my own some intrest conflict thing

Seems to be some good progress over this way. Be backing this down a boat ramp soon it would seem.

Funny your thread should pop up now... just started a rebuild on my 1969 All American! Pretty much exactly the same.

Did you have to replace your glass? If so... where did you find it?

the PO replaced the pane on the port side with some kind of plastic that is damaged from the sun not sure what to do about it maybe replace with plexi or lexan i may just live with it as the peice at the helm is clear the middle window is ok just missing a few rivets from the hardware easy fix just havent done it yet

had the day off from workso i started to tackle the wiring to see if the motor works:redface: took me a bit to figure out the PO's plan, what a mess, prob a pound of extra wire and everything radio, fishfinder,bilge pump,

horn etc.. was getting power and ground from the back of a gas gauge so thats why they left the gauge even though the tank is long gone:facepalm: i just ripped it all out rewired with like 5 wires, so here it is and the horn works too

A while back you posted a picture of your flooring structure... I don't suppose you recall the dimensions of the lumber that was in place?

I'm debating on re-creating that structure for my deck/stringers vs. just updating to a more traditional stringer system.

these boats are different under the floor than the others i've seen on here, they have glass stringers filled with foam, i had 4 1"X3" boards layed accross the glass stringers then 2 1"X10" longways on top of those and the foam all capped in glassthey put down 4 boards sideways put 2 longways on top of those then draped roving over it creating cavities sprayed it with resin then filled the cavities with foam

That is quite similar to what I found in mine, although mine were so very rotted out that by the time I reached below deck, everything was basically wood mush. Seeing your pic was exciting because it made some sense of my left over parts and pieces.

After everything I've read here for the last year I am still leaning towards a more modern stringer system. BUT, still undecided. And I have enough of an outline left on my hull to recreate the original system.

My "project" is probably going to take a while to complete, but I hope you pay attention. I have some pretty sick ideas I'd like to pull off that I think you may like, given that your boat is virtually the same as mine!

i worked on my seats after work then tightened my plugs, i hope that i can splash it at the river tomorrow to test the motor before towing it all the way to the lake next time

so my 1st attempt to splash today ended with my left wheel coming off and bouncing behind me as i drug the trailer on its hub bent the fender, not sure where the bearing buddy:facepalm: went but its gone, found some temporary bolts at lowes to get it home, lesson.. use locktite and ignore torque specs , tighten as tight as i can . maybe get it wet next weekend
