Re: 1968 16 ft glaspar restore and transom woes
Great Job! You seem to know how to work with Glass...I have an identical boat I just bought. Question: the hull has numerous long scrapes and scratches that get into the fiber of the glass along the keel. What is the best way to fix this? I was thinking styrene to soften the wounds, then glass putty and some exterior boat paint over that after it hardens...the glass is leaking in this area but not soft or damp. They are new wounds and the water never sat in the boat to get time to soften the glass, fortunately. ..Seems every site I go to has different ideas on this, but I'd really like your opinion. I thought as well about laying a strip of matting along the keel to fortify it, as we boat on lakes that you often pull onto gravel bars and the boat rocks and it beat up a bit by wave action.
Thank ahead, and again, great job on the boat! I want to repaint mine as well from a light blue bottom to white and leave the dark blue on it's upper hull and topside. Not sure what paint to use to do that with..Mine was completely sheltered it's entire life, great condition all around with a 78 merc 115 that runs like a top! Paid 650 for her...
